SPS News - Eclipse Grants
SPS News - Issue 104
Get your SPS Chapter Ready: US Solar Eclipse August 2017In a recent issue of SPS News, we introduced the Solar Eclipse Outreach Grant opportunities. In anticipation of the solar eclipse on Monday, August 21, 2017, SPS National would like to provide interested SPS chapters with materials and demos to plan informational, engaging, and fun outreach events on your campus and within your community.
By early summer, SPS will publish solar eclipse outreach demonstrations on the SPS website that you can do at your school. These demonstrations can be facilitated by all SPS chapters—those in and outside the eclipse’s path. Get more information on the path of totality.
In addition, SPS national will make available thousands of SPS branded safety glasses which must be worn to observe the eclipse and we want to make sure our chapters are well-stocked! If your chapter is interested in organizing a demonstration and/or is interested in ordering the SPS safety glasses, please fill out the application form no later than Friday, May 19.
We want to make sure as many people as possible have an opportunity to learn about and experience this exciting once in a lifetime event, so apply today!
