Vote in the SPS National Election! The democratic process runs deeper than just US presidential elections—it’s important to get engaged with all elections! In keeping with this level of engagement, the National Council of SPS is elected by YOU, our members and chapters. Each chapter gets one vote, so log in, read through the candidate bios, and collaborate with your chapter to vote.
The first step in activism is communicating with your representatives at a regional and national level. So get involved, and go vote!
Ballots close on April 20th:
US Solar Eclipse 2017On August 21, 2017, join millions gathering from Oregon to South Carolina for an opportunity to see the solar corona and all phases of the eclipse. Outside the totality path, the entire North American continent will witness a partial eclipse. This summer, SPS National will provide chapters the opportunity to engage with this special occurrence! Chapters within the total eclipse path and across the country can apply for our Solar Eclipse Outreach Grants. Once awarded, SPS will provide solar eclipse safety glasses and outreach kits for educational and fun workshop demos for the public.
More information and links to the Solar Eclipse application will be made available in the next SPS News. For general Solar Eclipse Day information, visit the American Astronomical Society’s Solar Eclipse page.
