On behalf of Sigma Pi Sigma and the Society of Physics Students’ National Office, we welcome you to the start of a great 2016 Quadrennial Physics Congress (PhysCon). In just a few weeks, we will welcome over 1000 participants to learn about opportunities within our communities, how to connect to careers and graduate programs, how to be an entrepreneur, and how to make a real difference in the world around us. To ensure that our students have the absolute best experience, we have organized two great events; Breakfast with the Scientists and Poster Presentations… but, we need YOUR help as we recruit more volunteers! We need an array of scientists to guide conversations during the breakfast and to help judge the students’ posters. Please review the information and links below to register for the events:
Breakfast with the Scientists (Friday, November 4)
Breakfast with the Scientists is a great opportunity for students to interact and engage with professional physicists and scientists outside of their university, all the while enjoying a delicious breakfast. During this session, you will share your career experiences and advice you may have for aspiring physicists and astronomers. Please join this session and spend an awesome morning with our students!
PhysCon Poster Presentations (Friday - Saturday, November 4-5)
Sigma Pi Sigma will host two poster sessions during PhysCon. The topics and presenters vary widely; including many who will be presenting for the first time. Presentation topics include general physics, applied physics, theoretical/computational physics, community engagement, and careers. Poster presenters will be given feedback to help make them more effective communicators. Monetary prizes will be awarded to students and are generously sponsored by OSA. Please join this session and provide valuable feedback to future researchers!
