Engagement award to Sigma Pi Sigma chapters for funding events that aim to include alumni, help with chapter inductions, or expand the recognition within the campus and surrounding community
$600 maximum, awarded to several chapters annually
Awarded to (an) undergraduate(s) based on their exceptional contributions to advanced laboratory development and letters of recommendation
Winners will present their work at the summer national AAPT meeting, supported by a $1,000 student travel award, a $500 faculty travel award, a $500 student honorarium, and a $500 award to the department to advance the department’s advanced laboratory
Honorable mentions provide an SPS student travel award ($300) to attend the summer AAPT meeting to present their work as an invited poster or oral talk
$2,500-$3,000 awards for students in Sigma Pi Sigma
Awarded based on upholding its four pillars (Honor, Encouragement, Service, and Fellowship), and exhibition of the potential and intention for continued scholarship in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field
Preference for current undergraduates, graduate students, or those inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma within the past 10 years

Students are placed at organizations, such as AAPT, NIST, APS, Capitol Hill and more. If you're interested in past intern experiences, check out their blogsand final presentations!

Celebrate LGBTQ+ STEM Day!
LGBTQ+ STEM Day is held on November 18 every year and is used to promote, highlight, and celebrate LGBTQ+ scientists and their work. November 18 symbolizes the 60thanniversary of Frank Kameny’s, astronomer and gay activist, US Supreme Court case fighting against workplace discrimination.
