November is Native American Heritage Month!

This month is dedicated to recognizing the diverse cultures and many achievements of Native Americans. To learn more about these efforts, check out the resources compiled by institutions such as the Library of Congress, the National Archives and Records Administration, the National Gallery of Art, and more.

You can also host an educational event in your chapter with teaching guides from AIP's Center for History of Physics! They include people such as Fred Begay, the first Native American to get a PhD in physics, and organizations like SACNAS, the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science.

Celebrate LGBTQ+ STEM Day!

LGBTQ+ STEM Day is held on November 18 every year and is used to promote, highlight, and celebrate LGBTQ+ scientists and their work. November 18 symbolizes the 60th anniversary of Frank Kameny’s, astronomer and gay activist, US Supreme Court case fighting against workplace discrimination. To learn more about the organization and its organizers, visit here.

If you want to get involved, you can host an educational event using a teaching guide, created by AIP's Center for History of Physics, about Ben Barres, a prominent neurobiologist and champion for gender equity.
