Meet the 2019 SPS Summer Interns!

Today the 2019 SPS Summer interns start their 10-week journey in the Washington, D.C. area. Their placement sites include SPS, AIP, AAPT, OSA, SoR, NASA, NIST, and Capitol Hill. Throughout the summer, the interns will participate in outreach, professional development workshops, and networking events. We encourage you to follow their journeys on their weekly blogs starting next week!

PhysCon Registration Now Open!

Have you heard the news?! PhysCon registration is now open! Attend #PhysCon2019 this November 14-16 in Providence, RI and be one of over 1,500 physics and astronomy students, mentors, alumni, and renowned scientists coming together for a life-changing experience. Win Pizza for Your Chapter

Chapter Reports are a great way for you to look back on your accomplishments from the past year. Submitting a Chapter Report also enters your school in the running for an Outstanding Chapter Award and other chapter designations. Start your report today! The first 100 chapters to submit their reports will be entered in a drawing for one of five $100 pizza gift cards. Chapter Reports are due June 17!

How has PhysCon Impacted You?

Have you ever attended PhysCon? If so, we want you to share your experiences in preparation for PhysCon 2019! Use the hashtag #PhysConImpact on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram with pictures of your favorite memories from a previous PhysCon. Don’t have any good pictures? Feel free to share a story instead. We want to know the ways PhysCon has impacted YOU so that current undergraduate students understand why they should attend #PhysCon2019!

Apply for PhysCon Awards

Whether you are presenting a poster or are interested in science writing for PhysCon – SPS has awards available to you! The SPS Travel Award provides $200 for individual students presenting a poster at PhysCon, and the Chapter Reporter Award provides up to $600 for chapters to write an official report after attending PhysCon. Our Reporter Award also gives chapters the option to conduct real-time social media posting during PhysCon. Click here for more information about PhysCon awards. These are only available to current SPS members, so don’t let your membership lapse over the summer!

Now that the school year is winding down, you have time to think about your plans after graduation. If you are thinking about going to grad school, planning accordingly and doing your research is key to choosing the right grad program.
