2015 Physics Nobel Prize Announced

SPS congratulates Takaaki Kajita and Arthur B. McDonald on their receipt of the Nobel Prize in Physics "for the discovery of neutrino oscillations, which shows that neutrinos have mass." Future Faces of Physics Award Applications

SPS is calling for applications from SPS chapters promoting physics across cultures. Future Faces of Physics Awards are granted to chapters that promote the recruitment and retention of people from groups historically underrepresented in physics. Several awards of up to $500 are made each year. Proposals are due October 15, 2015. See the 2015 recipients for winning examples.

APS Conferences for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP) — January 15-17

Only 10 more days left (deadline - Oct. 16) to register for the CUWiP three-day regional conferences for undergraduate physics majors in January 2016. The APS CUWiP goal is to help undergraduate women continue in physics by providing them with the opportunity to experience a professional conference, information about graduate school and professions in physics, and access to other women in physics of all ages with whom they can share experiences, advice, and ideas.
