PhysCon 2016 Highlights!PhysCon 2016

The 2016 Quadrennial Physics Congress (PhysCon) was a great success! Last week nearly 1,200 students, physicists, exhibitors, and more came together to explore the theme Unifying Fields: Science Driving Innovation, in Silicon Valley, CA. Highlights are available online. Be sure to check the website for updates.

Fall Chapter Award Application Deadlines Extended!PhysCon 2016Calling for applications from SPS chapters! New Deadline - December 1!
Future Faces of Physics Awards are granted to chapters that promote the recruitment and retention of people from groups historically underrepresented in physics. Several awards of up to $500 are made each year.
Marsh W. White Awards are offered to SPS chapters for physics outreach to grades K-12 and the general public. Several awards of up to $500 are made each year.
SPS Chapter Research Awards are offered to SPS chapters for physics research projects. Several awards of up to $2,000 are made each year.


Summer Internship Applications Due January 15!SPS is now accepting applications for summer internships!
The SPS summer internship program offers 10-week-long paid positions in science policy, communication, outreach, research, and education. All internships include paid housing, a competitive stipend, a commuting allowance, and transportation to and from Washington, DC. Applications and all supporting materials are due January 15.

US Dept of Homeland Security Summer Internships The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate Office of University Programs sponsors a 10-week summer internship program for students majoring in homeland security related science, technology, engineering and mathematics (HS-STEM) disciplines.
