SPS Summer Internship Applications are Open

Apply your physics skills to science policy, outreach, education, and research! Applications for the SPS Summer Internship Program are NOW OPEN! Students are placed at organizations, such as NASA, NIST, APS, Capitol Hill and more. All internships include paid housing, a competitive stipend, support to attend a national physics meeting in the year following the internship, and transportation to and from Washington, DC. If you're interested in past intern experiences, check out their blogs and final presentations!

 
 

Checkout the SPS Careers Toolbox

Seniors, be sure to check out the FREE job and careers resource, the SPS Careers Toolbox ! Get tips on job searching, writing a resume, acing the interview and much more. The Careers Toolbox focuses on undergraduate physics students entering the workforce after graduation and students who choose to go to graduate school! These tools can be applied to finding internships, research positions, or entrance into graduate programs.

 
 

Submit Your Research to JURP!

The Journal of Undergraduate Reports in Physics (JURP) is an annual peer-reviewed undergraduate publication of SPS used as an educational tool for publicly disseminating SPS-related research and programmatic activities. Papers in the areas of pure, applied, computational, and/or theoretical physics and astronomy are eligible for submission.  Papers are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year, with a final deadline of March 15.

Apply for a Summer REU

Be sure to keep an eye on summer opportunities, especially Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU), as applications become available! The National Science Foundation (NSF) keeps an updated list of NSF REU sites for physics  here. Be sure to plan ahead and gather your letters of recommendation and other application materials in time!

SPS offers Travel Awards of up to $300 to members presenting their research at AIP member society meetings. A limited number of awards will be offered. Apply Today!

SPS offers Reporter Awards for members attending and reporting on professional physics meetings. Recipients are eligible for up to $300 as an individual and $250 per person as a chapter in travel reimbursement. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
