Fall Awards Are Now Open!

Have an idea for an (in-person or virtual) event, outreach, or research project, and need the funds to execute it? Let SPS National help you get there! Applications and advisor sign offs are due MondayNovember 15, 2021.

Future Faces of Physics Award

  • Outreach award to chapters to promote the recruitment and retention of people from historically underrepresented groups in physics and astronomy
  • $500 maximum, awarded to several chapters annually

Marsh W. White Award

  • Outreach award to chapters for programs with grades K-12 and the general public
  • $500 maximum, awarded to several chapters annually

Sigma Pi Sigma Chapter Project Award

  • Engagement award to Sigma Pi Sigma chapters for funding events that aim to include alumni, help with chapter inductions, or expand the recognition within the campus and surrounding community
  • $500 maximum, awarded to several chapters annually

SPS Chapter Research Award

  • Research award to chapters for imaginative physics and astronomy projects
  • $2,000 maximum, awarded to several chapters annually

Meet your Zone Counselor and Associate Zone Counselor!

Zone Councilors (ZC) and Associate Zone Councilors (AZC) represent the chapters in your SPS zone  on the SPS National Council and serve as your point of contact for anything SPS related! They will be in contact with your SPS chapter throughout the academic year regarding award deadlines, zone meetings, and other resources. Meet your ZC and AZC representatives here!

If you have any questions or concerns throughout the academic year, or simply want to introduce your SPS chapter, feel free to reach out to them directly!

Don't Forget - Two New SPS Awards!

As a reminder, SPS is now offering the Food for Hungry Physics Students grant to help alleviate food and personal need concerns for physics students and AIP-SPS Undergraduate Student Emergency Tuition Assistance for those negatively impacted economically by the pandemic.

Each award is on a first come, first serve basis and funding is limited. Apply today!

SPS offers Reporter Awards for members attending and reporting on professional physics meetings. Recipients are eligible for up to $75 for virtual meetings. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Apply Now!

SPS offers Travel Awards of $300 (for in-person meetings) to members presenting their research at AIP member society meetings. A limited number of awards will be offered.  Apply Today !

SPS members attending and reporting on professional physics meetings are eligible to receive $300 as an individual and $250 per person (for in-person meetings) as a chapter in travel reimbursement. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.   Apply Now !
