Meet the SPS Interns

The 2023 SPS Summer Interns will start their 10-week journey IN-PERSON in the Washington, DC area at their placement sites that include SPS, AIP, AAPT, APS, SoR, STScI, NIST, and Capitol Hill very soon! Throughout the summer, the interns will participate in outreach, professional development workshops, and networking events. We encourage you to follow their journeys through their  weekly blogs !

 
 

Try the NASA HOEE Starshade Challenge

The NASA HOEE Starshade Challenge is intended for undergraduate students in Engineering and Physics/Astronomy and helps to promote skills you’ve learned through your college career by helping to design a next generation NASA telescope! S howcase your ability to problem solve , plan, and think critically to design and produce an ultra-low mass Starshade . Learn more and sign up at https://aip.org/starshade .  

This challenge is first come, first serve, for up to 20 teams. Teams will be given an honorarium of $1 ,000 to construct a scale model, work with NASA Scientists, and winning designs will split $20,000!  

 
 

Chapter Reports due June 15

Submit a chapter report by June 15 to be considered for the 2022-23 SPS Chapter Awards! Preparing your chapter report is a great way to look back on your accomplishments from the past year and be included in SPS publications. We provide a template and the SPS chapters that submit on time will be entered in a drawing to be one of ten winners of a $100 gift card for a pizza party!
